Polydoor Environmental Impact Doors

With all companies actively looking to reduce their carbon footprint, the Polydoor offers every industry the opportunity to do just that.

When installing or replacing personnel, impact or hygiene doors, the chance to use a product that is 100% recyclable is not only hard not to consider but in some cases it’s hard to find. Manufactured using some of the most common and easily recycled materials, the Polydoor ticks all the relevant environmental boxes.

The HDPE used to manufacture the Polydoor is primarily polyethylene which is the world’s most common plastic used today. As a result of the simplicity in recycling polyethylene, almost every recycling facility in the world is prepared to accept this material. The next key material used as standard to manufacture the Polydoor is stainless steel, this material is used to fully construct our distinctive hinge system. Every component within this hinge is made from stainless steel therefore ensuring strength and hygiene.

The inclusion of a unique frameless vision section manufactured from acrylic again maintains that the Polydoor is the only impact door in the UK that is 100% recyclable.

Over the last 2 decades the use of rubber, PVC and GRP has increased dramatically and it is only now we are realising the detrimental effects these material have on our environment. Either dumped as landfill or incinerated, these materials evidently do more harm than good no matter what their purpose.

As a company we ensure that we not only manufacture a product that is 100% recyclable but we also actively recycle and reuse any waste and decommissioned doors. With an established relationship with Greenstar who are the UK’s largest recycling company, all materials are collected from our site and forwarded to the designated recycling plants. From these plants the materials are recycled and passed on to companies who reuse the material to form an alternative product.

We have prepared the UK’s first door recycling policy called Back2Work. This policy identifies the efforts we have made in ensuring our product not only meets but exceeds all recycling expectations. The policy also recognizes the problems faced with using alternative materials.
